Freiburg Augsburg prediction 2024-10-19

Freiburg vs Augsburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-10-18 13:30.
[p]Freiburg bounced back from a shock 3-0 loss at home to newly-promoted St Pauli by beating Werder Bremen 1-0 to head into the international break sitting fourth. And if they win here against Augsburg, it would propel them to their joint-best start to a Bundesliga season in their history (15 points), something that managerial novice Julian Schuster could scarcely have dreamed of when succeeding the long-serving and extremely successful Christian Streich in the summer. [/p]

[p]And recent H2H history suggests there’s every chance of that happening as Freiburg haven’t lost a home H2H in the Bundesliga since 2014(W8, D1 since), while they have only tasted defeat once in the last 11 H2Hs at any venue (W7, D3). However, that loss came in their last meeting in February, so Schuster will be aware of the challenge that the Bavarians pose.[/p]

[p]In order for Augsburg to stand a chance of victory, they will have to get on the scoresheet away from home for the first time in the league this season. They’re one of two sides yet to register a point on the road, suffering a pair of 4-0 defeats against Heidenheim and Leipzig. It’s an alarming trend that’s continued from last season, as they’ve now lost six successive Bundesliga away matches, while another here would make it their worst-ever such run in the top-flight. [/p]

[p]Augsburg did, however, go into the international break on a high after beating Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-1, and three points at Freiburg would make it back-to-back league wins for the first time since March. Their path to success does look complicated, given that they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in any competition since April. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Ritsu Dōan’s three goals for Freiburg this season have all come after half-time in victories, and he has happy memories of facing Augsburg after scoring against them on his Bundesliga debut in a 4-0 thrashing. The visitors, meanwhile, can call on Alexis Claude-Maurice, who netted on his debut against Gladbach off the bench earlier this month, putting him in the frame for a start as he looks to make it five successive wins when scoring. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: There hasn’t been a goal scored inside the opening 25 minutes by the home team in any of Freiburg’s matches since April.[/p]
