Freiburg B. Monchengladbach prediction 2022-09-11

Freiburg vs B. Monchengladbach prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-09-10 15:30.
For the first time in over 20 years, Freiburg sat at the top of the pile in Germany after their come-from-behind 3-2 win against Leverkusen extended their winning run to three. An opening round win in the Europa League further boosted confidence and highlighted the shrewd business that’s been done over the summer, with three new signings scoring across the last two games!

Their strong start comes after the club reached the German Cup final and finished sixth in the league last term, yet Christian Streich – the longest serving current Bundesliga boss – remains humble, recently suggesting the goal is simply to avoid relegation. Looking back to the 2013/14 campaign may provide clues on that outlook, as Freiburg finished 14th under Streich, a slump from the preceding fifth-placed finish in 2012/13 that guided them into Europe.

Without the distraction of European football, perennial top-six challengers Borussia Mönchengladbach can put their full focus into bouncing back from their first defeat of the 2022/23 season last weekend (W3, D2, L1). That 1-0 set back against Mainz shouldn’t be too concerning for the Foals though, as they enjoyed the majority of attempts and possession but only fell to an unstoppable strike into the top corner.

Bouncing back from defeat has been made a little harder after defender Ko Itakura received his first red card in just his fifth appearance for Gladbach. Even so, Daniel Farke may be quietly confident of getting something here, as strong-travelling Gladbach are enjoying a seven-game unbeaten run in competitive trips (W3, D4).

Players to watch: Signed from Gladbach this summer, Freiburg centre-back Matthias Ginter has contributed to three goals in five league appearances (G2, A1) and will now try to thwart his old club. As for Gladbach, Marcus Thuram has contributed to over half of their league goals (G3, A1) and scored against Freiburg in two of the last three seasons.

Hot stat: Freiburg are unbeaten in 19 of the last 20 top-flight H2Hs with Gladbach (W12, D7).
