Freiburg Olympiacos Piraeus prediction 2022-10-27

Freiburg vs Olympiacos Piraeus prediction: EUROPE: Europa League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-10-26 19:00.
A perfect start to their UEFA Europa League (UEL) Group G campaign has made Freiburg an ominous prospect this season, and another win here will guarantee them top spot in the group. Scoring 11 goals while conceding only once shows they’re well worth their four UEL victories, which is even more impressive considering this campaign alone has matched the number of wins they achieved in their European history prior (W4, D6, L6).

Christian Streich’s men should be full of confidence since they’re coming off a 2-0 home win against Werder Bremen over the weekend, maintaining their top-three spot in the Bundesliga. The Europa-Park Stadion will therefore be buzzing as they prepare to host Greek opposition for the first time, hoping for a repeat of the 3-0 win over Olympiacos in Piraeus on matchday two.

Olympiacos have had a campaign to forget so far, as a winless UEL group stage campaign (D1, L3) means the best they can hope for is a third-place finish and entry to the UEFA Europa Conference League knockout round play-offs, and even that would require Qarabag beating Nantes in Group G’s other game if Olympiacos are to take that quest to the final matchday. It’s hard to see where Olympiacos can threaten offensively to even achieve that though, as their solitary goal in the group stage was an own goal vs Nantes, making them one of two teams in the competition who haven’t scored from open play.

The Red-Whites did secure an away win in domestic action over the weekend, beating Panetolikos 2-0 to cap off a three-game unbeaten streak on the road (W2, D1). That reprieve might be short lived considering their record against German opponents recently though, losing each of their last ten encounters, including a 3-1 away loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in this competition's group stages last season.

Players to watch: Freiburg’s Vincenzo Grifo got a goal and assist last time out, and he has now scored all of his last four goals at the Europa-Park Stadion. Meanwhile, Olympiacos might need Cédric Bakambu to pull them out the fire, as he’s netted four of his last seven club goals after the 75th minute.

Hot stat: Ten of Freiburg’s last 12 goals have been scored after half-time.
