Freiburg Stuttgart prediction 2024-08-24

Freiburg vs Stuttgart prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-08-23 13:30.
[p]For the first time since 2011/12, Freiburg will begin a campaign without their beloved former coach Christian Streich on the sidelines, following his decision to retire at the end of last season. Unfortunately things did not end well for Streich and his team as they failed to win any of their final five games of the Bundesliga season (D3, L2), which saw them fall out of the European places to eventually finish in tenth spot. [/p]

[p]The man now tasked with taking the Breisgau Brazilians forward is former player Julian Schuster, who got life in the dugout off to a great start with a 4-0 win over lower league side OsnabrĂĽck in the DFB-Pokal. Schuster will be hoping for a similar start in his first league outing as a top-flight coach, and he could be aided by Freiburg going unbeaten in their Bundesliga opener for five seasons running (W4, D1), which includes a win over visiting Stuttgart in the 2020/21 campaign.[/p]

[p]Since then, Stuttgart themselves haven’t tasted defeat in their opening league game of a new season (W2, D1), and have dominated their opponents by scoring 11 goals and conceding just twice in those three matches. They’ve also already begun their season but in another competition, having taken on league and cup champions Bayer Leverkusen for DFL-Supercup honours, but ultimately fell short via a penalty shootout after a thrilling 2-2 draw.[/p]

[p]Preparing for a new season doesn’t get much more thorough than going stride for stride with last term’s undefeated champions, which came on the back of a great campaign last season when the Reds finished as runners-up on 73 points, a club record for a 34-game season. Six of those points came against Freiburg, as Sebastian Hoeneß’s men did the double (5-0 home and 3-1 away) over their upcoming hosts after six successive Bundesliga H2H defeats.[/p]

[p]Key battle: Freiburg’s top scorer of last season, Vincenzo Grifo, was back amongst the goals against Osnabrück, adding to any confidence already fuelled by registering four goal contributions in his last four games against Stuttgart (G3, A1). That means Stuttgart keeper Alexander Nübel could be in for a busy day, but he should be confident considering he registered the second-highest number of clean sheets in the Bundesliga last term with 11. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Stuttgart drew just once on their league travels last term, less than any other side in the competition. [/p]
