Frosinone Atalanta prediction 2023-08-26

Frosinone vs Atalanta prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-08-25 16:30.
Last season's Serie B winners Frosinone were given a baptism of fire on their return to top-flight football, starting only their third ever Serie A (SA) campaign with a 3-1 loss to reigning champions, Napoli. That ended what was a nine-game undefeated streak (W6, D3) for Frosinone, with manager Eusebio Di Francesco lamenting a “technical gap” and “mistakes” that will need to be addressed if they are to avoid the immediate relegation they suffered in their two previous SA campaigns.

The Canaries might be forced to bide their time in that pursuit, as neither of their previous top-flight campaigns saw them win any of their opening two matches. Half of those four games ominously ended in defeat against upcoming opponents Atalanta (2-0 on MD2 in 2015/16 and 4-0 on MD1 in 2018/19), which contributed to Frosinone not only being winless in the six previous H2Hs (D2, L4), but also scoreless.

Atalanta continued the clean sheet theme by running out 2-0 winners against Sassuolo on opening weekend, and are primed to keep successive shutouts to start a SA campaign for the first time since 2008/09. Another strong defensive effort will also go a long way in improving their woeful matchday two record, where they’ve won only once under Gian Piero Gasperini (D3, L3).

The Goddess could also do with some improvements to their recent away record, with that win at Sassuolo being only their fourth in their last 12 assignments on the road (D2, L6). What they may be even more wary of is their form against recently promoted sides, as three wins in their last eight such league matches (D2, L3) is nothing to write home about.

Players to watch: Frosinone new-comer Abdou Harroui got life at the Stadio Benito Stirpe off to a great start when scoring against Napoli, with nine of his last 12 goals now coming at home. Not to be outdone, Atalanta’s summer signing Charles De Ketelaere, who was hailed by Gasperini as possessing “the right qualities” after scoring on debut against Sassuolo, has seen his last six goals all come after half-time.

Hot stat: Atalanta have lost just two of the last 62 SA matches in which they scored the opening goal (W49, D11).
