Gabon Ivory Coast prediction 2025-12-31

Gabon vs Ivory Coast prediction: AFRICA: Africa Cup of Nations betting tips on match 2025-12-30 19:00.
[p]Bottom-of-the-table Gabon must win here against group leaders and reigning champions Ivory Coast to have any chance of reaching the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).[/p]

[p]Match News and Current Form[/p]

[p]After losing 1-0 to Cameroon, Gabon suffered the indignity on Sunday of becoming the first-ever country to lose to Mozambique at an AFCON. The Panthers will still believe that they can replicate their run to the knockout phase in the 2021 edition, but to do so they’ll have to quickly rediscover the kind of form which saw them go unbeaten in five games (W4, D1) before their current three-match losing streak. Any progression hopes also rely on a favourable result elsewhere too, so a fifth group stage elimination from their last seven tournament appearances feels the most likely outcome here.[/p]

[p]Ivory Coast haven’t been wholly convincing in Morocco during this campaign so far, beating Mozambique 1-0 before squandering a lead against Cameroon to draw 1-1. Emerse Faé’s men are currently only top of their group ahead of Cameroon due to their superior fair play record, but most likely need to win handsomely here to give themselves the best opportunity to maintain that position in the table, although a draw would at least guarantee second place. A victory seems highly plausible for an Ivory Coast side who have won five of their last six games at the tournament, even if none of those victories have been by more than a one-goal margin. [/p]

[p]Head-to-Head History[/p]

[p]Ivory Coast have lost just one of the last nine H2Hs (W5, D3), with the last such match taking place in September during World Cup qualifying (0-0). [/p]

[p]Hot Stats and Streaks[/p]

[p]Gabon’s last eight goals have all been scored after the 40th minute. [/p]

[p]Gabon’s last nine AFCON finals matches have all been decided by no more than a one-goal margin.[/p]

[p]Just one of Ivory Coast’s last 14 games saw both teams score.[/p]

[p]The last six goals in Ivory Coast matches all arrived before the hour mark. [/p]

[p]Key Players to Watch and Missing Players[/p]

[p]Alex Moucketou-Moussounda scored what proved to be a consolation for Gabon against Mozambique, with that just the fourth goal of his entire career for club or country! Ghislain Konan assisted Ivory Coast’s opener against Cameroon before scoring an own goal – he hasn’t lost on any of his last 11 competitive appearances for his country (W8, D3). [/p]

[p]Neither side appear to have any fresh absentees. [/p]

[p]Betting Analysis[/p]

[p]Given Gabon’s struggles and their tendency to take a while to get going, we’re backing Ivory Coast/Ivory Coast in the half-time/full-time market.[/p]
