Genoa Empoli prediction 2025-03-02

Genoa vs Empoli prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2025-03-01 14:00.
[p]Genoa showed signs of promise at Inter Milan last Saturday, but a 1-0 defeat means that their wait for back-to-back wins this season continues. Patrick Vieira’s men are not in any real danger of getting relegated though, as they are nine points above the bottom three, with one of those teams below the dotted line, Empoli, visiting Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday. [/p]

[p]Coincidentally, Genoa’s last away win was actually against their upcoming opponents back in late December, while their overall H2H record is hugely impressive, going unbeaten across the last ten meetings between the sides (W5, D5). Not only that, but Genoa have also won their last three Serie A home games, last doing that four times in a row in April 2016![/p]

[p]Empoli will be hoping that Wednesday’s dramatic penalty shootout win at Juventus in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals will boost their league form, as they last won in Serie A in early December, losing nine of their 11 such games since then. It is a far cry from the start of the season when they were unbeaten in their first eight matches across all competitions as Roberto D’Aversa’s side found themselves as high as fourth in late September. [/p]

[p]Not only have Empoli failed to score in their last three league games, but they have let in a mammoth 14 goals across their last four in Serie A, leaving them facing the prospect of conceding at least twice in five successive Italian top-flight matches for the first time since October 2021. D’Aversa has a positive record against Genoa in the dugout however, having beaten them six times in ten meetings (L4) – he’s won more managerial games against Genoa than against any other opponent. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Stefano Sabelli joined Genoa from Empoli in 2021, and although the 32-year-old has only scored six goals in his entire career, the five that have been at home have all helped earn victory for his team on the day. Youssef Maleh got Empoli’s opener at Juve in midweek, his first goal since the 2021/22 campaign, and the Moroccan has now been on the winning side the last five times that he has found the net. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: The away team on the day has scored before half-time in only one of Genoa’s last nine games. [/p]
