Genoa vs Monza prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2025-01-26 19:45.
[p]A positive unbeaten run of three games (W2, D1) would’ve had Genoa and their fans feeling optimistic heading into their last game against Roma, but a 3-1 defeat at the Stadio Olimpico brought them crashing down to earth. Genoa can still be proud of the fact that it was just their second loss from their last 11 matches (W4, D5) which has seen them put some daylight between themselves and the relegation zone. [/p]
[p]That fruitful period must be credited to a stubborn defence that conceded just six times during those 11 games, which includes six clean sheets. One of those shutouts was recorded in the Griffins’ last home game, a 1-0 win over Parma, which was their first home victory in 11 attempts this Serie A season (D6, L4). Home fans will therefore be fuelling the team’s desire to register back-to-back home league wins for the first time since May 2024.[/p]
[p]Standing in their way will be Monza who, after they arrested a 12-game winless streak (D3, L9) with victory over Fiorentina two rounds ago, fell back into their old ways with a 3-1 loss away to Bologna last round. That result will be especially devastating as it was the fourth time this season Monza had scored first but failed to win (D2, L2), which are valuable points lost considering they’re bottom of the table.[/p]
[p]On a positive note, that was the seventh game in a row that Monza had scored, proving there’s plenty of fight left in their attacking unit. The White and Reds are also out for revenge having lost the reverse fixture 1-0 to Genoa, and will be looking to get back to the dominance shown when winning the three H2Hs prior to that.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Morten Frendrup scored the winning goal against Parma and he’ll be keen to repeat those heroics since seven of his last eight goals came at home. Monza’s dangerman could very well be Daniel Maldini, who is on a two-game scoring streak to compliment the confidence garnered from scoring the winner in this fixture last season![/p]
[p]Hot stat: Genoa were level at half-time 13 times this Serie A season, more than any other side prior to the weekend. [/p]
