Gent vs Molde prediction: EUROPE: Europa Conference League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-11-02 17:45.
A place in the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) knockout round play-off is on offer as Gent meet Molde in a game the hosts must win to go through, while a draw is enough for the visitors. The Belgian side are unbeaten in three games (W1, D2) and have no choice but to attack as a repeat of September’s 0-0 H2H draw would see them fall short.
Another draw seems unlikely though – even before considering what’s at stake – as each of Gent’s last nine home games produced a decisive result (W5, L4) with them winning their last two. History is also on their side as they won their only previous clash with a side from Norway, running out 4-0 victors here over Vålerenga last season.
But Molde might prove a trickier opponent, as after securing their fifth Eliteserien title in early October, they’ve had the opportunity to prioritise their European campaign. Winning eight of their last nine matches (L1) should be a confidence boost and they could be primed to make another fast start given they took the lead within ten minutes in each of their last three games (W2, L1).
But that might not guarantee anything because ominously, Molde lost their two previous visits to Belgium, conceding at least three goals on each occasion. However netting in each of their last six UECL away games (W3, D1, L2) hints that they’ve the firepower to prevent a hat-trick of defeats.
Players to watch: Hugo Cuypers is one of two Gent players to score more than once in the UECL this term (two goals), while his last four competitive strikes arrived between the 40th and 75th minute. Ola Brynhildsen, responsible for two of those recent swift game-openers for Molde, has netted four of his last five goals before the 15th minute.
Hot stat: All five of Gent’s prior home UECL wins came ‘to nil’, as did each of Molde’s last four UECL wins anywhere.
