Getafe vs Espanyol prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-12-08 20:00.
[p]With Getafe having won just one of their last seven La Liga games (D3, L3), and only goal difference separating them from the relegation zone and upcoming opponents Espanyol, it’s fair to say the Azulones are in desperate need of a win here. Needing penalties to edge past lower league minnows Orihuela in the Copa del Rey in midweek would have hardly done much for confidence either for José Bordalás’ men. [/p]
[p]The Getafe boss has made no bones about his win at all costs mentality, so he’ll be keen to add some more victories to his side’s underwhelming record at the Coliseum so far this term (W2, D5, L1). They are at least tough to beat, and leaning on that could be key in a fixture they’ve struggled to win in recent years, taking maximum points from just one of the last seven H2H top-flights (D3, L3).[/p]
[p]However, Espanyol were on the losing side the last time these two met, going down 2-1 in the Copa del Rey in early January. Knowing they have a game in hand over their opponents and many of the clubs above them, the Parakeets will now be looking to avoid back-to-back travelling defeats after Tuesday’s shock 2-0 loss at Barbastro and breathe life into their struggling league campaign. [/p]
[p]Considering they haven’t triumphed in a single league away game this term (D6, L1), with their single point gained representing the worst such tally in the division, perhaps the travelling supporters shouldn’t hold much hope. More sympathetic Espanyol fans may well be keen to point out that they’ve already met six of last season’s top-seven on the road in this campaign (D1, L5), so perhaps their record isn’t entirely representative just yet.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Getafe midfielder Luis Milla doesn’t strike often, but he did when these sides last met and if he does again expect it to arrive late – each of his five top-flight goals have arrived in the second half. Espanyol forward Walid Cheddira struck last time out in La Liga action and he also has a taste for late drama with four of his last five goals for any side coming after the break.[/p]
[p]Hot stat: Espanyol haven’t scored a first-half away goal in the league this season.[/p]
