Girona vs Mallorca prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2025-05-04 19:00.
[p]Girona are on the brink of one of the most dramatic collapses Spanish football has ever seen. Three months after they completed their inaugural UEFA Champions League campaign and occupied a European place (seventh) with a 2-1 win over Las Palmas, Girona have endured 11 consecutive league games without victory (D4, L7), putting them in danger of relegation if they don’t snap that run soon. [/p]
[p]That’s the longest winless top-flight run Girona have ever posted in the club’s history, and there appears to be little respite at home, where they’ve lost back-to-back league games for the first time since May 2023. You’d have to go back to April 2019 for the last time they lost 3+ La Liga home games in a row, but having lost three times to Mallorca in the 2024 calendar year, falling to an unwanted streak here can’t be ruled out.[/p]
[p]Mallorca ended 2024 alongside Girona in the top eight and whilst their slide hasn’t been anywhere near as dramatic, it has left them looking unlikely to make their first European appearance since 2003/04. One potential advantage they have is that four of their last five games are against clubs beginning Round 34 beneath them in the standings, and it’s against such sides they’ve earned 11 of their 12 La Liga wins this term.[/p]
[p]That only tells half of the story for a side who have struggled in 2025 (W3, D5, L6), with only four of the pre-round bottom five picking up fewer points than Mallorca this calendar year ahead of matchday 34. If they’re to improve on their 14-point haul so far this year, they’ll have to snap a pattern in this fixture that has seen the home side on the day win each of the last five H2Hs. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Girona continue to be heavily dependent on 38-year-old captain Cristhian Stuani, who has seen his last 12 club goals arrive after half-time, eight of which were netted after the 75th minute. A Cyle Larin goal could be a good omen for Mallorca, who have won on his five goalscoring outings this season, including the reverse fixture. [/p]
[p]Hot streak: Mallorca have kept a first-half clean sheet in each of their last eight La Liga games. [/p]
