Granada CF Almeria prediction 2024-02-18

Granada CF vs Almeria prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-02-17 15:15.
If ever there was a relegation ‘six pointer’, this is it for 19th-placed Granada, who face bottom of the table Almería knowing a victory would thrust them right firmly into the survival shakeup. Despite what their lowly position suggests, Granada have shown signs of promise in recent weeks, securing successive draws against top-half opposition in Las Palmas and Barcelona.

They need to win games though, and that’s been their biggest issue this season, with just one victory from their last 21 league outings (D7, L13) going some way to explaining why they come into this round seven points adrift of safety. A league-low one league clean sheet further explains their demise, as does the fact they’ve conceded the opener in a league-high 20 of their 24 league matches this season, battling back to win none (D5, L15).

While Granada still have a flickering of hope that they can escape the bottom three, the picture is much bleaker for a winless AlmerĂa (D7, L17). Including the tail end of last season, AlmerĂa are now winless in 27 top-flight games (D9, L18) – the joint-longest such run in La Liga history – and the misery doesn’t necessarily end there, as failure to win here will see them claim the unwanted record outright!

With 11 successive away league defeats in tow, it’s hard to see how Almería don’t fall to that fate, and with nine of those games seeing them concede at least twice too, it could prove to be a humiliating afternoon. There is one glimmer of hope they can avoid becoming unwanted record holders though, as surprisingly, Almería have never tasted defeat against Granada in a top-flight H2H (W3, D2).

Players to watch: Facundo Pellestri opened his Granada account against Barcelona – never before in his senior career has he scored in back-to-back games. AlmerĂa’s Edgar GonzĂĄlez has seen both of his goals this season serve as his side’s second of the game and they both arrived on the road.

Hot stat: AlmerĂa have conceded a league-high 16 first half away goals.
