Heidenheim Werder Bremen prediction 2025-05-17

Heidenheim vs Werder Bremen prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2025-05-16 13:30.
[p]A two-legged relegation play-off awaits Heidenheim unless they can achieve the highly unlikely feat of both defeating Werder Bremen and leapfrogging either Hoffenheim or St. Pauli, who are both three points above them. Frank Schmidt’s men are also six goals behind Hoffenheim and 13 behind St. Pauli on goal difference, so require a hefty win here and a huge favour from Wolfsburg or bottom-of-the-table Bochum to secure automatic Bundesliga survival.[/p]

[p]Whatever happens here, the post-season debrief will need to assess what went wrong at Voith-Arena, where they have so far posted the division’s worst home record in 2024/25 (W3, D2, L11) after being the seventh-best in the league on their own patch last term. Considering that Heidenheim could not even score against Bochum (0-0) in their last game as hosts, and have lost at home to every top-half club this campaign (agg. 2-20) ahead of Bremen’s visit, this contest looks set to be difficult. [/p]

[p]Werder could not conquer Heidenheim in mid-January (3-3) but have since corrected the defensive frailties that plagued them earlier in 2025, registering an impressive six clean sheets in their last nine league matches to win five of them (D3, L1). The club were reportedly keen to extend head coach Ole Werner’s contract beyond June 2026 even before that resurgence, so they look set for long-term stability. [/p]

[p]Only a 19-goal swing coupled with RB Leipzig and Mainz both losing will definitely see Werder qualify for Europe this Saturday, but Werner’s men should be confident of ending the campaign in style after some impressive performances away to currently lower-ranked clubs. Bremen have scored at least twice this season at seven of the nine sides now below them in the table, earning six wins for their efforts (D2, L1). [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Midfielder Jan Schöppner netted his fifth goal of the campaign in all competitions at Union Berlin (3-0) last weekend to add to his first-half strike against Werder in January, although Heidenheim supporters will be desperate to see his first home goal of 2024/25. Jens Stage got his eighth and ninth goals of the season in Bremen’s last away trip, also at Union (2-2), and the team are yet to lose this term when he scores (W4, D2).[/p]

[p]Hot stat: The pre-match favourite has won 12 of Heidenheim’s 16 home games this Bundesliga season (D2, L2).[/p]
