Hertha Berlin Schalke prediction 2022-10-23

Hertha Berlin vs Schalke prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-10-22 15:30.
Sunday’s Bundesliga action ends with a relegation six-pointer as Hertha Berlin look to halt a five-game winless run of league games against a toiling Schalke side that are nursing a four-game losing streak. A meagre return of eight points at this stage is Hertha’s worst start to a top-flight campaign in 13 years since their infamous 2009/10 relegation campaign!

After Hertha’s attempted comeback fell short in a 3-2 loss against Leipzig in the last round, boss Sandro Schwarz interestingly played down the ‘must win’ feeling around this game for his side. That’s a bold outlook considering Hertha sat on the precipice of the drop zone after ten rounds and a defeat here could see them in an even worse position by full-time, but coming from behind to draw in each of their last three home games may provide some confidence in their fighting spirit at least.

It seems pretty safe to assume that Schalke will need at least a couple of goals to win this game as they are currently enduring the Bundesliga’s longest active run without a clean sheet (seven games) and have conceded more than all teams but Bochum ahead of the round. Following a humbling 5-1 elimination from the DFB-Pokal in midweek, Schalke pulled the trigger and sacked Frank Kramer after just 13 games in charge.

Schalke put on record their thanks to Kramer, despite board member Peter Knäbel’s remark that his tenure was “not worthy of Schalke”. Yet it seems that the powers that be can’t find what they consider a worthy appointment for this historic club, as they’re now looking for a ninth manager in just a five-year period! In the meantime, whoever steps in has a huge job on their hands as Schalke sit in the relegation zone and are still looking to notch a first away league win of the season (D2, L3).

Players to watch: Dodi Lukébakio has been instrumental to Hertha’s limited success this season, scoring equalising goals in his last two home appearances. As for Schalke, Dominick Drexler has had a hand in all three of their goals across their last five games (G1, A2), yet none could save them from defeat.

Hot stat: Schalke and Hertha have kept a joint league-low one clean sheet each this season.
