Hertha Berlin Werder Bremen prediction 2023-04-22

Hertha Berlin vs Werder Bremen prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-04-21 13:30.
Time is fast running out for Hertha Berlin in their battle to beat the drop, as with just six games remaining they find themselves five points adrift of safety after last week’s disappointing 5-2 defeat to relegation rivals Schalke put them bottom of the table. A six-match winless league run (D2, L4) hardly serves as inspiration that Hertha can pull off a great escape, and neither does the fact that in the two prior seasons where they had fewer points than their current 22 after 28 games, they went on to be relegated!

Things are unlikely to get much better with Werder Bremen next to visit the German capital, a side Hertha have beaten just once in the last 16 Bundesliga meetings (D8, L7). You’d have to go back to December 2013 for Hertha’s last home victory against Werder, but considering their run across their last 12 Bundesliga home games is perfectly split (W4, D4, L4), few know what Hertha side will turn up here in pursuit of a survival-boosting victory.

Though not mathematically safe from relegation just yet, with an eight-point cushion to the drop-zone it would take an almighty collapse for Werder to be relegated this term. Like Hertha, they come into this game on the back of an identical six-match winless league run which has stopped any progress away from the relegation zone, but the two draws in that sequence did at least arrive on the road.

Though not fruitful in terms of results, that run has certainly been entertaining for the neutral, with all six games witnessing both teams get on the scoresheet and at least three goals scored. In fact, Werder are usually a premier pick if it’s goals you're after, but their problem on the road tends to be that they concede most of them, leaking an eye-watering average of three goals per game across their last seven Bundesliga away outings (W1, D2, L4).

Players to watch: Hertha will hope Wilfried Kanga can be the difference maker as he’s scored the winner in two of their four home league wins this term. A happy traveller, Jens Stage has seen all three of his Werder goals come on the road, each of which was his side’s first of the game.

Hot stat: Hertha have won only one of their last 15 Bundesliga home games when starting the day bottom of the league (D6, L8).
