Hoffenheim Werder Bremen prediction 2024-03-03

Hoffenheim vs Werder Bremen prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-03-02 16:30.
After a torrid eight-game winless Bundesliga run, Hoffenheim ended it in some style with a 3-2 win over perennial challengers Borussia Dortmund last weekend (W1, D4, L4). That victory saw them move back into the top seven for the first time since the end of round 16, although you’d have to look back even further than that to matchday five to find the last time they put together consecutive league wins.

Next on the agenda is ending a stretch of four home games without victory (D3, L1), which includes all three of their outings here this calendar year. Doing so against Werder Bremen is by no means a given, as whilst none of the last five H2Hs ended level, the hosts lost two of the last four such matches. Perhaps counteracting that hit and miss record could be the personal success of their boss Pellegrino Mattarazo, who remains unbeaten as a coach against this opposition (W4, D1).

Whilst the hosts ended their rot, Werder carried on in fine style last week by extending their positive Bundesliga run to nine unbeaten games across the last ten (W5, D4, L1) with a 1-1 draw against Darmstadt. Putting that period into perspective identifies how strong it truly is, as only the top two clubs, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, had picked up more points than Werder’s 19 during the same time.

Five of those unbeaten games came away from home (W3, D2), which includes only their second ever run of three straight Bundesliga away wins without conceding in club history, and the first since 1981/82. Another such victory would set a new club record, but a return of just one clean sheet across their last 12 visits to Hoffenheim, along with boss Ole Werner’s poor record against them anywhere (W1, L2), suggests that such an outcome could be unlikely.

Players to watch: Maximilian Beier was rewarded for his brace last weekend with a victory, which was timely as each of his four prior goal contributions at club level came in draws or defeats. As for Werder, each of Justin Njinmah’s first four goals this season came in home games before hitting his side’s only goal in their 1-0 win over Cologne in their latest away success.

Hot stat: Werder have led at half-time just once in away league action this season (HT: W1, D7, L3).
