Huddersfield Stoke prediction 2023-09-20

Huddersfield vs Stoke prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-09-19 18:45.
It’s the end of an era for Neil Warnock, whose last game in charge of Huddersfield comes against Stoke, with the veteran boss confirming he will step down from his role in his pre-game press conference. This will be Warnock’s 18th game as a manager against Stoke, with the first coming as Oldham Athletic boss way back in 1997, but despite generally suffering a mixed bag of results (W6, D6, L5), he has at least won four of his last six personal H2Hs (D1, L1).

Warnock re-joined the club for a second spell at the helm midway through last season, tasked with keeping the Terriers in the Championship. Having done so, they’ve started this campaign with seven points from their first six games, beating Rotherham United 2-0 on Saturday to secure back-to-back Championship wins. They say good things come in threes, and Town will certainly hope that’s the case here as they bid to send Warnock off on a high.

He will take charge of his 132nd and final Town game against a Potters side who have won just one of their previous ten trips to Huddersfield H2Hs (D5, L4). That lone victory came courtesy of a 5-2 triumph in 2020, but given Alex Neil’s Stoke side haven’t found the back of the net once in their last three Championship outings, a similar scoreline this time around seems highly unlikely.

Stoke went seven without a win at the end of last season, and have carried the rot on into the new term, but the more optimistic members of their fanbase would point out that it may take time for their raft of summer signings to settle in. Yet time is of the essence in the Championship, and with Stoke currently on a four match losing away run in the second tier, all of which came ‘to nil’, things may yet get worse before they get better.

Players to watch: Wales international Sorba Thomas got on the scoresheet and grabbed an assist for Huddersfield in their win over Rotherham, while he set up Town’s opener in this corresponding fixture last year. Stoke’s summer signing AndrĂ© Vidigal has been their brightest prospect so far this season, netting three of their five goals in the Championship.

Hot stat: The away side on the day has scored exactly once in four of the last five H2Hs.
