Hull Huddersfield prediction 2023-01-14

Hull vs Huddersfield prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-01-13 15:00.
Had it not been for the impressive five-match unbeaten run (W2, D3) Hull City put together since their return from the World Cup break, then this clash against Huddersfield would be being billed as a relegation ‘six-pointer’. While that run doesn’t mean Hull can breathe easy, it does strangely see them closer to the play-offs than the relegation zone by way of points ahead of the round.

The play-offs still seem a far-fetched reality though, especially if Hull can’t resurrect a faltering home league run of just one win in ten games (D2, L7). Manager Liam Rosenior insists wins at the MKM Stadium “will come”, and having won four of their last six home H2Hs against Huddersfield (L2), he will hope that this game is tailor made to end their woes in front of their own fans.

Having won two of their last three league games though, Huddersfield may be quietly confident they can prolong Rosenior’s wait for a maiden home win in charge of Hull. The Terriers looked dead and buried at Christmas, but that pair of victories since has resurrected their survival push and another win here could actually see Huddersfield climb out of the bottom three for the first time under Mark Fotheringham’s stewardship, if results elsewhere go their way.

This game coming away from home may throw a spanner in the works though, with Huddersfield’s eight away league points collected this season the lowest in the league (W2, D2, L7). Yet both victories have come in their last three away jaunts, so perhaps there is evidence the tide is turning, and after Fotheringham questioned the “winning mentality” of his players in the wake of their FA Cup exit against Preston, his troops have a point to prove here.

Players to watch: Hull’s Óscar Estupiñån has scored in three successive league games, all three of which have peculiarly arrived in the 77th or 78th minute. Huddersfield’s Jack Rudoni is having a growing influence on his side’s recent revival, assisting twice across their last three league games.

Hot stat: Of Huddersfield’s 18 away league goals conceded this season, 15 have come before half-time.
