Hull Leeds prediction 2023-09-20

Hull vs Leeds prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-09-19 18:45.
After an opening-match loss to kick off their Championship campaign, Hull City haven’t tasted defeat in their five league games since (W3, D2) and currently sit fifth. Impressively, the victories over both Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers – along with Friday’s draw with Coventry City – all came after conceding the opening goal. That means they have already gained seven points after going 1-0 down, having secured just nine points after conceding first in the whole of 2022/23!

The Tigers’ recent home record against fellow Yorkshire side Leeds United makes for grim reading, however. They’ve failed to score in the last three meetings at the MKM Stadium, with current head coach Liam Rosenior coming off the bench as a player during the club’s last victory at home to the Whites in 2012 (D2, L2 since).

Like Hull, Leeds are beginning to motor, having taken eight points from a possible 12 to move up to tenth. Daniel Farke’s men are enjoying life on their travels more than at Elland Road, and Leeds now have the chance to rack up three successive away league wins for the first time since July 2020 at the end of their Championship-winning campaign under Marcelo Bielsa.

Farke’s record against Hull as Norwich boss was decidedly mixed, having won one, drawn two and lost one of his four H2Hs. The highest-scoring match in that run was a 4-3 thriller that went against the Canaries in March 2018, a game which featured four penalties. Leeds haven’t taken a spot-kick in regular time this term, but they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Salford City following a shootout, and converted just one of their three efforts from 12 yards last season in the Premier League.

Players to watch: Aaron Connolly has hit the ground running since his permanent move from Brighton, scoring four in six Championship games, with all those efforts coming after the 80th minute. Joël Piroe has similarly settled in extremely quickly after swapping Swansea City for Leeds, having netted three in as many matches, two of which arrived inside the opening 20 minutes.

Hot stat: Leeds have won their last 22 Championship away encounters when scoring first, with the last team to frustrate them in such a match ironically being Farke’s Norwich side in April 2018 (2-1).
