Hull vs Plymouth prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-09-29 14:00.
Liam Rosenior’s Hull have enjoyed a flying start to the season, and a comfortable 3-1 win away against Stoke – a club they hadn’t beaten in their previous five meetings – last Sunday propelled the Tigers into Championship play-off spots. As such, Hull have lost just one of their league games so far this term (W4, D3), but interestingly, all of their draws have come in their three most recent home games!
Hull’s one win at the MKM Stadium so far this season came against rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday, and they’ll look to continue their unbeaten run on home soil against another club promoted from League One last term when Plymouth make the long trip north on Saturday afternoon. The omens look good in that sense too, as the Tigers have won each of their last three meetings with Argyle without conceding a single goal.
Yet Plymouth have made a better start than many expected to life back in the second tier after a 13-year absence. Steven Schumacher’s men thumped Norwich 6-2 down in Devon last weekend, another statement of their intent to not only survive, but push on into the upper echelons of the division and prove the naysayers wrong.
That victory was their third of the campaign, and also the third at Home Park, with it already evident just how crucial home comforts are going to be in their quest to consolidate in the second tier. Argyle have lost three of their first four away from home in the league, and to further highlight the disparity between their home and away form, Schumacher’s side are averaging 3.25 goals at Home Park but fewer than one on their travels!
Players to watch: A loan signing made permanent in summer, Aaron Connolly has continued his goalscoring exploits for Hull with five already this season, four of which came after the 80th minute. Ryan Hardie is Plymouth’s main man – he’s scored or assisted at least once in all bar one of the games he’s started this term, with all five of his goals to date coming in the second half.
Hot stat: Ahead of the round, Hull and Plymouth have seen a joint league-high 75% of their league games this season witness both teams score.
