Hull Rotherham prediction 2023-04-01

Hull vs Rotherham prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-03-31 14:00.
With his side more than ten points adrift of both the coveted top six and the dreaded bottom three as they approach their final eight games, it’s likely Hull City manager Liam Rosenior will already be planning for the 2023/24 campaign. However, boasting the best points per game average (1.35) of the three managers used by the Tigers this season, Rosenior must be content with the team’s gradual improvement during his tenure.

Despite that, Hull went into the international break as one of just three clubs with either one or no wins from their last eight Championship games (D4, L3). Consequently, they now have one of the league’s worst win rates as pre-match favourites (36%), a record that deteriorates even further when expected to win at home (W4, D4, L4). And having failed to win the majority of their Championship home games against clubs beneath them in the standings at the start of the round (W3, D2, L2), no visiting opponent can be taken for granted.

Rotherham United also have a lot more to play for with their survival far from assured, having started the round four points above the bottom three, albeit with a game in hand. That was thanks to their previous game at home to Cardiff being abandoned without a winner after 47 minutes – a lucky escape for Rotherham who conceded the opening goal for the fifth time in seven starts to trail 1-0 at half-time.

Manager Matt Taylor said falling behind within five minutes to Cardiff hampered his players’ confidence and their season certainly highlights the weight of the first goal on their fortunes. Rotherham have lost 13 of the 14 league games (D1) in which they fell behind, whilst eight of their nine wins in the competition have seen the Millers hold a half-time lead.

Players to watch: Ozan Tufan was Hull’s last goalscorer in a Championship home game as well as in their 4-2 away win over Rotherham in the reverse H2H, whilst Millers faithful will be hoping Georgie Kelly can repeat his goal from that match as he hasn’t found the net since.

Hot streak: Since the reverse H2H, Hull have not won any of their nine Championship games when conceding a first-half goal (D3, L6).
