Hull Sunderland prediction 2022-12-17

Hull vs Sunderland prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-12-16 15:00.
Spirits were lifted in the Hull camp as they picked up an unlikely point in a goalless stalemate with Watford last time out, though they remain with just one victory in six league games (D2, L3). Liam Rosenior’s side now dangle just a point above the relegation zone but the manager remained defiant post-match, taking the chance to praise his team’s defensive endeavour against "a very, very good team".

No side has conceded more home goals than the Tigers’ 20 this league term, so another shutout will be the order of the day as they seek to end a four-game losing run at MKM Stadium. Hull are no strangers to stuttering form on their own turf after losing six successive Championship games here only last season however, so perhaps it wouldn’t surprise if they fail to stop the rot this time around!

Whilst things aren’t quite so gloomy at Sunderland, Monday’s 2-1 defeat to West Brom saw them miss the chance to move up to seventh in the table. Boos rang around the stands after that game but considering the unpredictability of a scrappy Championship campaign, the promoted side will likely be content with their mid-table position though manager Tony Mowbray stated that his team needs to learn how ‘’to protect a lead".

Despite those comments, his side have gone on to win all five of their Championship away games in which they netted first so another fast start will be top of Mowbray’s wish list. Whilst not yet purring, the Black Cats might be ‘feline’ good about their chances here as they haven’t lost in their last four away visits to Hull (W1, D3) and victory would mark three successive away league wins this season, a feat they last achieved in March 2021!

Key battle: After marking his first league start since September with a clean sheet, Hull keeper Matt Ingram could have plenty of work to do against in-form Sunderland forward Amad Diallo, who has five goals from his last seven outings – three of them match openers.

Hot streak: Sunderland haven’t won an away league game when conceding first since October 2021 (D5, L7).
