Inter AS Roma prediction 2022-10-01

Inter vs AS Roma prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2022-09-30 16:00.
The last Serie A (SA) round marked the first time since 1955 that Inter Milan, Roma, Juventus and AC Milan all lost on a single SA matchday, with Inter and Roma now clashing this weekend as they look to revive their indifferent campaigns. Inter’s 3-1 loss against Udinese in their last outing marked just the fourth time since 1994/95 that the Nerazzurri had lost at least three of their opening seven matches of a league campaign (W4, L3), and ominously they didn’t finish in the top four in any of the three prior occasions.

Inter should at least relish a return to the San Siro having started their home league season with three wins. A chance to make it four straight home league wins to open a campaign for the first time since 2017/18 now presents itself for Inter, who will see a victory as crucial considering they went into the international break already five points off the title pace.

The San Siro touchline will be robbed of JosĂ© Mourinho’s charisma and antics as the Roma manager – and Inter’s 2009/10 UEFA Champions League winning boss – returns to his old stomping ground to watch from the stands after being sent off in Roma’s 1-0 loss to Atalanta. While he was kept busy rapping with British rapper Stormzy over the international break, Mourinho will now have to get his mind back on football matters as his side bid to break a ten-game winless H2H league run (D6, L4).

However Roma’s last H2H win did come at this venue in February 2017, but having conceded an average of 2.6 goals per game across their last five SA H2Hs held anywhere, Roma’s chances of arresting that run may lie in tightening up defensively. Roma have the psychological boost of sitting above their hosts though, but that loftier position may only be short lived if Roma can’t reverse their recent losing run of two defeats across their last three league games (W1).

Key battle: Inter’s Denzel Dumfries has a personal-high two SA goals against Roma, with both scoring appearances ending in victory. It may be defensively where Dumfries has the biggest impact though, as he attempts to keep Roma’s Andrea Belotti quiet, who boasts four SA goals in his last five away games against Inter.

Hot stat: The home side on the day has scored exactly three goals in five of Inter’s last six SA games.
