Inter Genoa prediction 2025-02-22

Inter vs Genoa prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2025-02-21 19:45.
[p]Inter Milan lost 1-0 at Juventus last weekend in the Derby d’Italia for their second defeat in three games (W1), but the blow to their title hopes was softened by Napoli and Atalanta also dropping points. With games against Lazio and Napoli up next after this match against Genoa, the Nerazzurri’s aspirations to become the first Italian side in five years to defend their league title could hinge on improving their recent seven-game league form (W3, D2, L2).[/p]

[p]Their record of losing just one H2H since February 2018 (W8, D3) could be the shot in the arm they need, but each of those draws came across the last four meetings including a 2-2 stalemate on matchday one this season. The San Siro could be the perfect venue to change that trend as Inter won eight of their last ten competitive home games here (D1, L1), a run bookended by three successive wins.[/p]

[p]Genoa needed two goals after the 80th minute to win 2-0 against Venezia last Monday, but still remain outside of the top ten. That’s largely down to their inconsistency as the RossoblĂč haven’t won consecutive matches this season, while their last such instance in Serie A came in January 2024. [/p]

[p]Head coach Patrick Vieira won’t expect a hearty welcome at his former stomping ground, but will hope to find some goals on the way as his side have averaged fewer than one goal per match this season. They have scored exactly once in their last three away trips and failed to win all three (D1, L2). Even if they have a poor start to this game, Genoa can’t be ruled out, as their tally of 12 second-half ‘wins’ in Serie A this term was bettered by just two teams pre-round.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Inter’s Lautaro MartĂnez is yet to crack the Genoa code as he hasn’t scored in seven top-flight H2Hs – the most he’s played against one club without netting. Only marginally better is Andrea Pinamonti, who has just one goal in 11 personal H2Hs, but he has opened Genoa’s scoring in their last two matches.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Ahead of the round, Genoa were the only team yet to score in the first ten minutes of a Serie A game this season, while no team scored more during that period than Inter (five).[/p]
