Ipswich Plymouth prediction 2023-10-28

Ipswich vs Plymouth prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-10-27 14:00.
Ipswich Town’s fairytale season shows no sign of slowing down, as a 1-0 victory over Bristol City on Wednesday moved them nine points clear of the chasing pack inside the automatic promotion places ahead of the round. After being promoted from the third-tier last season, Kieran McKenna’s men have sensationally made the second best 12-game start to a Championship season in competition history – eclipsed only by current leaders Leicester City.

The Tractor Boys have not only made a fast start to the season, but they’re flying out of the blocks on a game-by-game basis, netting inside the opening 20 minutes five times in as many matches. The Portman Road crowd have provided plenty of inspiration to Ipswich’s free-scoring attack too, as they’ve won four successive home league matches, netting 3+ goals in each.

Standing in their way on Saturday will be Plymouth Argyle, who pipped Ipswich to the 2022/23 League One title by just three points. The Pilgrims are searching for consistency in the second-tier now, a quest helped by a 3-0 victory over basement boys Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, as Steven Schumacher’s men secured back-to-back league clean sheets for the first time since April.

Next on the agenda for Schumacher will be sorting his side’s travel sickness, as Plymouth remain one of just three sides yet to win a Championship away match this season (D3, L3). Argyle did at least avoid defeat in both H2Hs against Ipswich last term (W1, D1), but they could face trouble late on as the Pilgrims have conceded three goals in second-half stoppage time this season, one of the highest totals in the league.

Players to watch: All but one of George Hirst’s six goal contributions this term (G2, A4) have come in the first 65 minutes, and the 24-year-old has assisted in each of his last three appearances. Mustapha Bundu got his first Plymouth goal on his full debut against Wednesday and will fancy his chances of starting again in East Anglia, having bagged his team’s opener for club and country in each of his last seven goalscoring outings.

Hot stat: Ipswich are unbeaten in the last six matches (W4, D2) in which they have conceded the opener.
