Latvia Faroe Islands prediction 2024-09-10

Latvia vs Faroe Islands prediction: EUROPE: UEFA Nations League – League C betting tips on match 2024-09-09 16:00.
[p]Latvia were completely outclassed on matchday one of this latest edition of the UEFA Nations League (UNL) as they fell to a 4-1 defeat away to Armenia. Not only will that result have taken the wind out of the upcoming hosts’ collective sails, but it also extended their run in this competition to three winless outings (D1, L2), though at least inspiration can be found in the fact that they’ve scored in each of those games.[/p]

[p]Their 1-0 victory over the Faroe Islands back in June serves as their only success so far this calendar year, with that result securing a third-place finish at the 2024 Baltic Cup. A look back at that result and performance should lift spirits a little ahead of this latest clash, especially as it forms part of a streak of just one defeat across six prior H2Hs (D4, L1), five of which have seen Latvia concede no more than once.   [/p]

[p]Unlike their opponents here, the Faroe Islands made a much more impressive start to their 2024 UNL campaign as they recorded a hard-fought 1-1 draw with North Macedonia on home soil. Despite largely sitting in their defensive shape which saw them have just 31% of possession, Håkan Ericson’s side looked dangerous throughout on the counter-attack, something likely to be seen again here in a game where they are expected to be on the back foot. [/p]

[p]Life has been a bit of a struggle of late for the Faroe Islands, who have won just one of their last 17 internationals overall (D4, L12) since producing a famous 2-1 win over Turkey back in September 2022. Their leaky backline has been the main culprit for that poor form, as they have only kept two clean sheets in those 17 games, conceding 30 goals in the process. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Andrejs Cigaņiks has scored twice across his last five Latvia caps – including the winner in the last H2H – as many strikes as he managed in his international career prior which dates back to 2018. Although he hasn’t netted in any of his last 18 appearances for the Faroe Islands, Klaemint Olsen remains one strike away from becoming his country’s outright all-time top scorer. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Six goals have been scored on or before the 15th minute in Latvia’s last seven internationals. [/p]
