Lazio vs Feyenoord prediction: EUROPE: Europa League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-09-07 19:00.
Perennial UEFA Europa League (UEL) competitors Lazio line up for their 78th game in the competition which is second only to Villarreal (88) since the tournament’s rebrand. In fact, Lazio are set for a joint-best tenth UEL tournament appearance, and after progressing from the group stage in seven of the previous nine, they’re the bookmakers’ choice to do so again in this group together with their opponents Feyenoord.
Preparations for this opening clash were less than ideal for Lazio, who have failed to win three of their last four matches (D2, L1) and suffered their first defeat of the season in their last home outing against Napoli (1-2). Lazio might prove nervous hosts then after also drawing three of their four UEL home matches last term (W1).
Runners-up in last season’s UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) campaign after tasting defeat to Lazio’s city rivals Roma in the final, Feyenoord have progressed from the UEL group stage only once in their four appearances since 2009/10. The Dutch side have started this season in an impressive way however, winning four of their five league matches (D1) and scoring 4+ goals on three occasions.
Feyenoord’s poor UEL record is partly due to their travelling performances as they have triumphed in just one of their 12 away UEL matches (D3, L8), whilst failing to score on eight occasions, including all three during their last appearance in 2020/21. Although Feyenoord could point to their inaugural UECL campaign last season, where they produced some solid away form (W4, D4, L1), so don’t expect these visitors to roll over!
Players to watch: Ciro Immobile has scored 15 UEL goals for Lazio with 11 arriving after the break. Brazilian forward Danilo netted twice last weekend and already has five goals in five matches for Feyenoord, with three coming in the first half.
Hot stat: Four of Feyenoord’s five matches this season have seen 11+ corners.
