Lazio Sassuolo prediction 2024-05-26

Lazio vs Sassuolo prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2024-05-25 18:45.
[p]It’s probably fair to say Lazio have regressed in the 2023/24 campaign, but a strong run of form towards the end of the season has given supporters something to cheer. The White and Blues, who came second in Serie A last term, have secured a European qualification place after going seven matches without defeat (W5, D2), most recently a 1-1 draw against champions Inter Milan.[/p]

[p]Igor Tudor’s side conceded an 87th minute equaliser in that game, which meant their proud record of finishing above arch enemies Roma in four successive seasons will come to an end. They can no longer catch their city rivals due to an inferior H2H record, but still have something to play for on the final day of the campaign despite being guaranteed to finish seventh, as they go in search of a sixth successive home victory, the kind of form they have not shown at the Stadio Olimpico since May 2021.[/p]

[p]Standing in their way are a Sassuolo side whose relegation to the second tier for the first time since 2013 was confirmed last weekend. A 2-0 defeat to Cagliari was the final nail in the coffin for the Neroverdi, who have only won two of their 11 fixtures (D3, L6) since drafting ex-Lazio boss Davide Ballardini in as manager in early March.[/p]

[p]His arrival didn’t have the desired effect, and as such they enter the final round of Serie A fixtures five points behind Udinese, who sit just above the danger zone. A miserable record on the road, accumulating a measly nine points from 18 matches, (W2, D3, L13) does little to suggest a change of fortune in this fixture, nor does the fact that they have lost five of the last seven away H2Hs (W1, D1).[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Lazio will be hoping Luis Alberto is on song, as he has won 20 of the last 22 games in which he has scored (L2). He’ll be pitting his wits against ever-present Sassuolo striker Andrea Pinamonti, who has netted nine of his 11 Serie A goals this season before half-time.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Lazio’s home league matches this season have averaged 1.94 goals per game, the joint-second lowest in Serie A ahead of this round.[/p]
