Lecce Frosinone prediction 2023-12-16

Lecce vs Frosinone prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-12-15 14:00.
It was a familiar feeling for Lecce on Monday as they drew 1-1 with Empoli – the eighth time they’ve had to settle for a point this Serie A (SA) campaign. The result increased their winless run in the league to ten games (D6, L4), but as they remain five points above the relegation zone after 15 rounds, the Apulia outfit still have a very strong chance of extending their top-flight journey to a third straight season.

That’s something they haven’t achieved since 2005/06, with home form set to play a vital role if they are to replicate that feat. Stadio Via del Mare has played host to each of their three league victories and 12 of their 17 points this term, including highly creditable draws against current top-five sides AC Milan and Bologna in their last two such matches.

Frosinone start this round two points above their hosts after a 0-0 draw last weekend against Torino halted an eight-game SA sequence without a stalemate (W3, L5). On a positive note, it was their first clean sheet in 13 matches in all competitions and presents a chance to post consecutive top-flight shutouts for the first time since November 2018. If the visitors can complement that with a win, they could also move into the top ten.

That would be quite an achievement for a club that had spent four campaigns in Serie B before getting promoted to the top flight ahead of this season. While Eusebio Di Francesco’s men will be dreaming about finally claiming an away league victory this term, they have to improve their form on the road that has resulted in five straight SA defeats, albeit four of those were at current top-five sides.

Players to watch: Roberto Piccoli scored Lecce’s last home goal and will hope to lead the charge again – three of his last four SA goals came in games that finished 1-1. The visitors could be looking at MatĂas SoulĂ© for a reply as he netted their first goal in four of his five SA scoring appearances this season, although Frosinone won just two of those five matches (D1, L2).

Hot stat: No side has won more SA points than Lecce after falling behind (W1, D5, L4) this campaign.
