Leicester Rotherham prediction 2023-12-23

Leicester vs Rotherham prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-12-22 15:00.
After a November that saw Leicester City go off the boil with just one Championship win in four games (D1, L2), the Foxes are enjoying a much happier December, with four victories from as many matches ensuring they start this round just ahead of Ipswich Town in the fight for the title. Their 3-2 triumph over Birmingham City on Monday underlined the attacking talent in their squad as they scored three away goals in a game for the fourth time already this season – a greater tally than they managed in the entirety of their disastrous 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

Despite Leicester starting quickly at St Andrew’s, it’s late in games when they often excel, having netted a mammoth 16 league goals from the 76th minute onwards so far this term – five more than the next-best figure in the division ahead of the round. Leicester have been similarly prolific against Rotherham United of late, netting seven goals across their last two H2Hs, although both of those encounters were in South Yorkshire.

Since taking the Rotherham job on 11 December, Leam Richardson has lost both of his matches in charge, with the latest disappointing result a 3-2 defeat at Plymouth Argyle as the Millers went down to ten men for the second time in three contests. They are now without a win in ten – the longest current run without a victory in the league – and haven’t won on the road since last November at Sheffield United.

Given Leicester’s propensity for late goals, Rotherham will need to address their own leakiness at the back in the closing stages of games, as they have conceded 12 times in the Championship from the 76th minute onwards this season – only Blackburn Rovers have conceded more in that time frame.

Players to watch: After another goal and assist last time out against Birmingham, Leicester’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is the only player in England’s second tier this campaign with at least seven goals and seven assists (G7, A9). After finally finding the net for Rotherham at the 32nd attempt against Plymouth, Tom Eaves will now be hoping for his first start for almost a year.

Hot stat: There have been at least two first-half goals in four of Rotherham’s last five away matches.
