Lens Brest prediction 2024-08-25

Lens vs Brest prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-08-24 13:00.
[p]Two sides who recorded very different results on the opening day of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season clash on matchday two, as Lens look to open their campaign with a second successive league win. The hosts recorded a routine 1-0 victory away to Angers at the weekend, extending their run to four league matches in succession without loss in the process (W2, D2) as they look to better their seventh-placed finish in the French top-flight last campaign.[/p]

[p]Their home form is likely to be their best route in terms of paving the way for that to happen, especially as they took the lion’s share of their points tally last term at Stade Bollaert-Delelis (31 to 20). That was aided by the fact that Lens only failed to score in two of their 17 home league fixtures – one of the strongest such returns in the competition – a trend that is likely to continue here given that they’ve scored 1.92 goals on average across their prior 13 home Ligue 1 H2Hs against Brest (W9, D2, L2). [/p]

[p]That will hardly come as music to the ears of Brest supporters who watched on as their side were soundly beaten 5-1 by Marseille on home soil on the opening weekend. That was just the fourth time in history that the Pirates have conceded 5+ goals in a Ligue 1 home match and it proved quite a surprising result given that they finished third in the French top-flight last term.[/p]

[p]Given that huge matchday one disappointment, a return to the road could in fact suit Brest as they’ve scored 3+ goals in each of their last three away league outings (W2, L1). Their six clean sheets away from home during last year’s league campaign was a tally only bettered by two sides too, so a reaction should be expected here. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Wesley SaĂŻd struck Lens’ winner last weekend, whilst he also opened the scoring in his last away H2H. Brest’s Mahdi Camara also scored on matchday one – albeit a consolation against Marseille – and he could strike again here as his eight club goals prior to that all came away from home. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Last season in Ligue 1, only seven of Brest’s 17 away league games saw both teams score – the joint-fewest in the competition. [/p]
