Liechtenstein Andorra prediction 2022-09-22

Liechtenstein vs Andorra prediction: EUROPE: UEFA Nations League – League D betting tips on match 2022-09-21 18:45.
Liechtenstein only won once in each of their last two UEFA Nations League (UNL) campaigns but are running out of time to emulate that performance having lost their first four matches of the 2022/23 edition. With just one UNL goal to show for their efforts so far, the chances of them ending a run of ten consecutive defeats appear slim, especially having lost their last two H2Hs against Andorra.

Both defeats came via a one-goal margin however, and with none of their last three defeats on home soil seeing them concede more than twice, UEFA’s third-lowest ranked side (FIFA rank: #194) might target making this a competitive affair. To do so, they may need to score first, something they haven't done at home since September 2018, which also heralded their last home win (D3, L12 since).

Andorra’s hopes of promotion may have disappeared, but avoiding defeat here will at least guarantee that they won’t finish bottom of Group D1 and they could still finish second. This campaign represents significant progress after only achieving their first ever UNL win – against Liechtenstein (2-1) – earlier this year courtesy of a remarkable 60-metre strike from Jesús Rubio!

As Liechtenstein are one of only two countries alongside San Marino that Andorra (FIFA rank: #152) have ever beaten on foreign soil, they’ll be in the unusual position of travelling as favourites despite never previously winning a UNL away game (D2, L6) nor scoring more than once in one game on the road in this competition!

Key battle: Liechtenstein goalkeeper Benjamin Büchel has conceded an average of 1.5 goals per game across his last four club appearances. He may need to up his game to keep out Jordi Aláez then, the scorer of two of Andorra’s last five international goals including the opener in June’s reverse fixture.

Hot stat: Three (50%) of the goals Andorra conceded during this UNL campaign were penalties, while two (29%) of Liechtenstein’s goals leaked also came from the spot.
