Lille Marseille prediction 2025-05-04

Lille vs Marseille prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-05-03 18:45.
[p]Sunday evening sees a meeting between the sides sat third and second respectively ahead of Round 32 of Ligue 1. Third-placed Lille are two points worse off than opponents Marseille but have won eight of their 12 league games since the start of February (L4), including each of the last three, to ignite their pursuit of UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualification.[/p]

[p]Bruno Génésio’s side haven’t finished in the top three since their 2020/21 title-winning campaign, but need to do so this term to gain automatic entry into the UCL league phase. Their quest has been aided in recent weeks by scoring first, with each of the Mastiffs’ last seven victories accompanied by the opener, and given they are yet to lose a league game at home this season when scoring first (W7, D3), a fast start could be key to their chances.[/p]

[p]Emphasising just how important the opening goal could be on Sunday, Marseille haven’t lost any of the 17 Ligue 1 games in which they have scored first so far this season (W14, D3), a record which can only be bettered by PSG. With Roberto De Zerbi’s side having scored nine times across their last two games, the Parisians (84) are also the only side in the division who can better the Olympians’ tally of 66 goals pre-round.[/p]

[p]Having missed out on European qualification altogether last season, victory on Sunday would go a long way to Marseille securing their return to the UCL. If they are to achieve the feat, they will need to end a dreadful run of four straight defeats at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, but having also lost their last four Ligue 1 away matches, that’s far from guaranteed[/p]

[p]Key battle: Thomas Meunier has never lost a H2H with Marseille (W5, D2), despite recording only two clean sheets against them. Amine Gouiri scored a hat-trick last weekend against Brest (W 4-1), and has now recorded 11 goal involvements (G7, A3) in his first 11 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Lille are one of only two Ligue 1 sides to have scored in every home league game this season.[/p]
