Lille vs Monaco prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-10-22 18:45.
With three wins from their last four Ligue 1 outings (L1), Lille find themselves firmly in the mix for a European spot after 11 games (W6, D1, L4). If Lille could’ve found some consistency earlier in the season, they could perhaps be far better off, but a 3-0 triumph over Strasbourg last week secured back-to-back victories for the first time this season after the eight games prior alternated between a defeat and a win.
Continuing that momentum against Monaco and securing a third straight league victory for the first time since October 2021 will be no easy task, as Lille will know themselves considering they have recorded just two wins from the last 16 Ligue 1 H2Hs (D6, L8). Whatever happens though, there should be entertainment considering six of Lille’s last seven home league matches have seen both teams score with at least three goals in each game.
After just one win from their opening five Ligue 1 games, things are finally coming to a boil for Monaco on the domestic front after winning five of their following six league outings (D1). Juggling the stresses of the French top-flight with the demands of the UEFA Europa League (UEL) hasn’t proved to be much of an issue, as Monaco’s upturn in form has strangely aligned with the opening of their UEL group campaign!
Currently on a 21-match Ligue 1 scoring streak – the longest current run in the division – Monaco will almost certainly be looking to take the fight to Lille, and with 31 away points taken in Ligue 1 since the turn of the year (W9, D4, L2), the Monegasques have shown they travel well. That has undoubtedly been aided by their ability to keep the back door shut, with Monaco the only team in Ligue 1 this season alongside PSG not to trail at any stage in an away league game this season!
Players to watch: Lille’s Jonathan David is in red-hot form and jointly tops the Ligue 1 scoring charts ahead of the round after scoring in four successive Ligue 1 games, with all of his home goals this term coming in the first half. Meanwhile, the influential Wissam Ben Yedder has played a part in five of Monaco's last ten Ligue 1 goals against Lille (G3, A2).
Hot stat: No Ligue 1 club has scored more headed goals this season than Monaco’s seven ahead of the round.
