Lille Rennes prediction 2024-11-24

Lille vs Rennes prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-11-23 14:00.
[p]Despite being unbeaten in ten matches across all competitions (W5, D5), the international break came at a decent time for Lille, who were held to draws after taking the lead in three successive matches before the hiatus. The most recent of those came against fellow European hopefuls Nice (2-2), leaving the Mastiffs one point adrift of the top-three heading into the weekend.[/p]

[p]The home supporters are bound to be confident ahead of this clash with Rennes, as Lille are unbeaten in the last ten league meetings (W4, D6) and have lost just three of the 48 meetings they’ve hosted in the top-flight (W26, D19). That’s their lowest such loss rate against any side they’ve faced at least 20 times on their own turf, marking Bruno Génésio’s men favourites against his struggling former employers.[/p]

[p]Rennes have endured a miserable start to the 2024/25 campaign, with their measly 11-point haul from as many league matches leaving them just a point ahead of the relegation zone heading into the weekend. Their plight prompted a managerial change, with Julien Stéphan replaced by the vastly experienced Jorge Sampaoli, who will take charge of his 50th Ligue 1 match here.[/p]

[p]He’ll hope to improve on a winless return in two previous meetings with Lille (D1, L1) as he looks to help Rennes avoid making more unwanted history. The Red and Blacks have lost more league matches than they’ve won in this calendar year (W11, L12) – the first time they’ve suffered that fate since 2017 – while a six-match winless streak on the road suggests they’re hardly well-placed to upset the odds here (D1, L5).[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Lille talisman Jonathan David was amongst the goals for Canada on international duty, and will hope to carry that form and replicate his heroics from last season’s corresponding fixture – he scored twice beyond the 84th minute to rescue a 2-2 draw. Ludovic Blas had opened the scoring for Rennes inside the opening minute on that day, part of a run of three of his last four strikes arriving before the half-hour mark.[/p]

[p]Hot streak: Lille have scored in each of their last 30 home league matches.[/p]
