Lille Strasbourg prediction 2024-09-21

Lille vs Strasbourg prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-09-20 15:00.
[p]After an unbeaten start to the season in which they qualified for the league phase of the UEFA Champions League (W4, D1), things have quickly turned sour for Lille. Les Dogues have suffered four consecutive defeats in all competitions, the latest of which was a 2-0 reverse against Sporting Lisbon in Europe which saw Angel Gomes sent off in the first half.[/p]

[p]Considering three of those games were on the road, a return to home comforts should be welcome, especially as Lille have lost just two of their last 16 Ligue 1 matches at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy (W10, D4) – a run which includes a 1-0 H2H victory in April. And with those defeats coming against PSG and Lyon, Bruno GĂ©nĂ©sio’s should be confident of avoiding a fifth defeat in succession – a fate they’ve not suffered since 2003![/p]

[p]Strasbourg have enjoyed a much steadier start, losing just one of their opening four league matches of the season (W1, D2) – a reasonable return for a side who finished the previous campaign by losing four of their final five outings (W1). That said, manager Liam Rosenior will have been disappointed that his side couldn’t hold on for all three points after taking a lead into half-time against Angers last week (D 1-1).[/p]

[p]Rosenior now looks to mastermind a first win on the road with Le Racing, which will require banishing the demons of a 4-3 defeat to Lyon in their most recent away match which they led 3-1 until the hour mark! The visitors’ return of just one win across their prior 13 Ligue 1 H2H clashes won’t inspire much confidence in achieving that feat here though (D3, L9), especially as they’ve scored just one goal in total across the six away matches during that run![/p]

[p]Players to watch: Lille’s Jonathan David may be overdue a goal having blanked in his last five club appearances, and this fixture may be perfect in that regard as he’s scored seven times in eight previous H2Hs (W6, D1, L1) – his joint-most against any opponent in his club career. Strasbourg’s Sebastian Nanasi has hit the ground running since arriving in the summer, opening the scoring in back-to-back matches before the interval.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: All four of Strasbourg’s Ligue 1 matches this season have seen both teams score – the only such 100% record left in the competition. [/p]
