Lille Toulouse prediction 2024-10-05

Lille vs Toulouse prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-10-04 17:00.
[p]Little over a week ago, Lille were stuck in a rut thanks to a five-game winless run (D1, L4) across all competitions. However, fresh from a sensational 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, courtesy of Jonathan David’s first-half strike, the Mastiffs have well and truly kick-started their campaign and return to Ligue 1 action with a spring in their step.[/p]

[p]That was actually a second success in a row for Bruno Génésio’s side, who hammered Le Havre 3-0 in their most recent domestic match. The manager will be confident that they can extend that run on home soil, where his side have been beaten in just three of their top flight outings since September 2022 (W24, D9), scoring in all bar one of those fixtures in the process![/p]

[p]Such a run of form may strike further fear into opponents Toulouse, who head to Stade Pierre-Mauroy attempting to win for just the second time in six H2Hs (D1, L3). The Violets are in a sticky situation after losing their last two matches, most recently a 2-1 defeat to Lyon, when they were sent home empty handed after conceding right at the death.[/p]

[p]Manager Carles Martínez Novell, who signed a new contract last month, will hope that there is no hangover from that game, after admitting he was left with a feeling of “immense disappointment” at failing to secure at least a draw. Toulouse know they need to bounce back quickly too, as they have accumulated just five points in their opening six league games (W1, D2, L3), which marks their joint-worst start to a top flight campaign in 21 years![/p]

[p]Key battle: Lille forward Jonathan David, who has netted five goals across his last three appearances, is now unbeaten across the last 22 games in which he has scored (W16, D6). Attempting to stop him will be Toulouse defender Djibril Sidibé, who has lost just two of his ten personal H2Hs (W5, D3), despite helping his side keep only two clean sheets.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Ahead of this round, Toulouse have only scored one first-half goal this season, a joint-low for Ligue 1.[/p]
