Lorient vs Clermont prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-08-27 13:00.
After their first scheduled home game of the season against Lyon was postponed due to an unsafe pitch, Lorient fans will finally get to see their side at Stade du Moustoir for the first time this season. Although already playing catch-up with fixtures, they’re not when it comes to points thanks to an unbeaten start on the road (W1, D1) and it might have been better had Terem Moffi not missed a penalty against Toulouse last week (D 2-2).
It’s the first chance for fans to see new Lorient manager Régis Le Bris at home after his promotion from the reserve team in the summer, and after finishing last term poorly here (D1, L2), the Lorient faithful will be keen to see something different. They will know a slow start could lead to a repeat of the last two seasons, most of which they spent battling relegation.
It was a similar story for Clermont last term too, albeit after a storming start following promotion from Ligue 2. The early signs for this season are encouraging too, having bounced back from a 5-0 thrashing by Paris Saint-Germain on opening weekend to beat Reims and Nice, somewhat helped on both occasions by their opponents having at least one player sent off after half-time!
Strangely, the away side on the day hasn’t lost any of the last ten H2Hs (Clermont: W2, D3, L5) while none of the previous H2Hs here produced three or more goals (Clermont: W2, D5, L1). Given that these two sides both accrued 36 points last term and shared a 1-1 draw in this exact fixture in October 2021, a low-scoring affair between two of last season’s lowest scoring sides seems likely.
Players to watch: Five of the six goals Ibrahima Koné netted since joining Lorient, including one against Clermont last term, came after the hour-mark, while Clermont’s Komnen Andrić registered his last four strikes between half-time and the 70th minute.
Hot stat: There was a red card shown in three of the last five H2Hs.
