Lyon Brest prediction 2025-03-02

Lyon vs Brest prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-03-01 14:00.
[p]Lyon were beaten 3-2 on home soil by league leaders PSG last weekend, as part of a problematic run which has seen them lose four of their last nine Ligue 1 games (W3, D2), which is as many defeats as in their previous 24 league outings (W15, D5). The recent decline in results has seen Paulo Fonseca’s side lose ground in the race for UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualification, and they subsequently begin this round sat five points behind the top four in sixth.[/p]

[p]Victory this weekend wouldn’t see Les Gones’ position in the table alter, but any dropped points leaves the door open for others to knock them out of the division’s European spots altogether. So with hopes hanging in the balance, Brest are probably high on the list of opponents Lyon won’t mind facing, as the Brittany-based club are the only current top-flight side they’ve never lost at home against in Ligue 1 (W8, D4).[/p]

[p]Sunday’s visitors are also chasing European qualification for the second successive season, and would draw level on points with Lyon if they can pull off a shock victory this weekend. February wasn’t kind to Brest, who won just two of their eight games during the month (D2, L4) in a miserable run which included UCL elimination via a 7-0 aggregate defeat to PSG, before also being dumped out of the Coupe de France by Ligue 2 outfit Dunkerque in midweek.[/p]

[p]In Ligue 1 alone though, Éric Roy’s side have lost just one of their last seven games (W4, D2). Building momentum as the business end of the season looms, the Pirates are unbeaten in four league away games (W3, D1) and have recorded clean sheets in the last three of those. Another shutout this weekend would see them equal a club record of four consecutive clean sheets on the road in the top flight![/p]

[p]Players to watch: Four of Georges Mikautadze’s eight goal involvements in Ligue 1 so far this season for Lyon (G6, A2) have come on or after the 83rd minute. Brest’s Romain Del Castillo has a better goal involvement record against Lyon (G2, A3) than any other top-flight opponent, scoring two and setting one up in the corresponding fixture last season.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Lyon could lose back-to-back home games in Ligue 1 for the first time since September 2023.[/p]
