Lyon Le Havre prediction 2023-09-17

Lyon vs Le Havre prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-09-16 18:45.
It was a busy international break in the Lyon boardroom, with club officials making the decision to part ways by ‘mutual agreement’ with former manager Laurent Blanc. He oversaw the club’s first winless four-game start to a new Ligue 1 season since 2000/01 (D1, L3), but he wasn’t the only person held accountable for this bleak beginning as Lyon’s Ultras gave their side a brutal on-field dressing down post-match following their most recent 4-1 home defeat to PSG.

A host of names have been linked with the vacant managerial role, including the likes of Frank Lampard, Graham Potter, Gennaro Gattuso and Fabio Grosso. It’s the latter who seems to be the latest frontrunner, and could even be in the stands to see his potential new team aim to climb off of the foot of the table by extending their H2H winning record against Le Havre to seven straight matches.

The last of those came way back in 2009, so Le Havre shouldn’t be feeling overawed, particularly given their own impressive start to the season. The newly-promoted side have lost just one of their opening four league matches (W1, D2), and you’d have to go back to 1991/92 for the last time they had more than five points on the board at this stage in France’s top tier.

The country’s oldest club will now see that start as the perfect platform to build upon, and their displays on the road so far should only add to their confidence. Their Ligue 1 away games this term yielded impressive 2-2 draws against Montpellier and Rennes, with each producing a goal inside 15 minutes, and those games have contributed to Le Havre having the joint-third highest match goal average coming into the round (3.5 per game).

Players to watch: France Under-21 international Rayan Cherki had a productive international break by netting two goals in two games and he entered the break having made more successful take-ons than any other Ligue 1 player (19). Opponent Nabil Alioui will be looking to add to his three goals in his last two Le Havre games, two of which came on the road.

Hot stat: Six of Lyon’s last seven Ligue 1 matches played on a Sunday produced 3+ match goals (W2, D1, L4).
