Lyon PSG prediction 2025-02-23

Lyon vs PSG prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-02-22 19:45.
[p]After a seven-game winless run in all competitions (D4, L3), Lyon have since won back-to-back Ligue 1 matches to bolster their push for Europe. They are sixth heading into this weekend, currently good enough to qualify for the UEFA Conference League play-off round, while Les Gones are on the cusp of going eight home league encounters without defeat for the first time in a single season since 2020/21. [/p]

[p]Their immediate focus is to overcome reigning Ligue 1 champions and leaders PSG, who have won six of their last seven away H2Hs (D1). What will give Lyon confidence is that they have scored ten times in the three matches since Paulo Fonseca was appointed manager, including four goals in both of their last two games and if they can put at least four past PSG on Sunday, it will be the first time that they would have netted that many in three successive encounters since February 2017![/p]

[p]PSG are also irresistible in attack, battering Brest 7-0 on Wednesday to record a 10-0 UEFA Champions League aggregate triumph. Going into this weekend, they are ten points clear at the top of Ligue 1, having established the second-longest unbeaten run at the start of a French top-flight campaign in the 21st century – behind only themselves in 2015/16 (27 games).[/p]

[p]In that season, it was Lyon who ended that streak, so PSG are unlikely to be complacent, having last lost to them relatively recently in April 2023. In fact, since Qatar Sports Investments bought the Parisians in 2011, Lyon have beaten them four times at home in Ligue 1 – the joint-highest figure of any club in that time along with Monaco. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Ernest Nuamah registered two goal involvements in a Lyon match for the first time (G1, A1) when he helped them to a 4-1 victory over Montpellier last Sunday. Bradley Barcola actually scored the winner for Lyon in that aforementioned April 2023 meeting before his move to PSG. He is currently enjoying his best scoring season since turning professional, scoring 16 times in all competitions this campaign, with nine of those coming away from home. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: PSG have scored at least once after half-time in their last 11 games. [/p]
