Mainz Heidenheim prediction 2023-12-16

Mainz vs Heidenheim prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-12-15 14:30.
Mainz have the fewest Bundesliga wins to their name this term (W1, D6, L7), and as they’ve scored just once across their last four fixtures (D3, L1), that’s hardly surprising. They did at least have the ball in the net against Cologne (D 0-0), only for it to be ruled out for offside, which somewhat sums up their campaign so far.

As the Carnival Club prepare for their last home game of the calendar year, signing off with a victory would be a nice early Christmas present for their fans, who have only witnessed one win (D1, L4) and five Mainz goals at the Mewa Arena in 2023/24. Two of those goals came in their sole Bundesliga triumph of the season so far over RB Leipzig (2-0), a result which came immediately after sacking Bo Svensson in November.

After beating Darmstadt 3-2, Heidenheim prepare for a first-ever competitive H2H with Mainz in a creditable 13th place during their maiden German top-flight campaign. Long-serving head coach Frank Schmidt described the match as “a rollercoaster of emotions” after they came from 2-1 down in the second half to claim their fourth league victory of the season (D2, L8).

However, no team has fewer Bundesliga away points to date this term (D1, L6) than Heidenheim, who are the first debutants since Energie Cottbus in 2000/01 to go winless across their first seven away trips in the league this campaign. Yet to lead at any point on the road this term, they have at least scored in each of their last three Bundesliga away games (L3), two of which were against sides in the top four.

Players to watch: Both of Leandro Barreiro’s league goals for Mainz this season have come at home, as did his final three last campaign, with four of those five in total arriving after the 50th minute. The hosts will have to watch out for aerial threat Patrick Mainka, whose last seven goals for Heidenheim came via his head, including two against Darmstadt.

Hot stat: Mainz have won none of their six initial meetings with Bundesliga debutants (D1, L5).
