Mainz vs Heidenheim prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-09-27 13:30.
[p]It was a case of fourth time lucky for Mainz whose opening three games of the Bundesliga season produced just two points (D2, L1), but they eventually held on for a nail-biting 3-2 win over Augsburg last time out. Manager Bo Henriksen will know there’s still plenty of work to be done to make winning a regular occurrence this campaign, such as mending his defensive structure that’s kept just one clean sheet in their last 11 games.  [/p]
[p]That hasn’t stopped the 05ers from posting good results, since they’ve now lost only one of their last 14 matches (W7, D6). The Mewa Arena faithful were unfortunately witness to that defeat which came in Mainz’s last home game, a 2-1 loss to Werder Bremen, but they’ll be confident their troops can immediately correct their path having been on a nine-game unbeaten run at home prior (W5, D4). [/p]
[p]Hoping to change that narrative will be Heidenheim, who after starting the season in electrifying fashion with five wins in all competitions, have been brought back down to earth with back-to-back defeats in the league. The most recent setback was a 3-0 humbling at the hands of Freiburg, a result that ended a 15-game scoring streak and which was their joint-heaviest defeat since a 4-0 loss to Nuremberg way back in October 2021. [/p]
[p]It’s nothing that manager Frank Schmidt hasn’t dealt with before, seeing as he is the longest-serving manager in all of Europe’s top-five leagues having just celebrated his 17th anniversary at the club. One thing he lacks experience in is coming up against Mainz since this is just the third competitive meeting between the two sides, but Heidenheim do lead in the small H2H record after last season’s win and draw in their two encounters.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Mainz’s Jonathan Burkardt hit the back of the net when these sides last met in their 1-1 draw in May, a strike that has helped him score the match opener in ten of his last 16 goalscoring outings. Earlier in the season it was Marvin Pieringer who popped up with the winner in Heidenheim’s 1-0 victory here at the Mewa Arena, a nice change up since he lost the other three Bundesliga matches he scored in. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: There has been an average of 5.56 cards per game in Mainz’s last nine Bundesliga matches. [/p]
