Mallorca vs Cadiz CF prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-11-28 20:00.
Mallorca and Cádiz will meet in a midweek La Liga (LL) match that was postponed earlier this month due to Mallorca striker Vedat Muriqi being called up for Kosovo’s make-up Euro 2024 qualifier against Israel. The teams had consecutive weekends off in November as a result, but couldn’t capitalise upon the opportunity to reset their faltering campaigns at the weekend. Ironically, Muriqi was injured in that international and has not been able to play since!
The hosts became the second club of this LL season to be held scoreless in four straight matches, making no use of a strong defence that put in some strong shifts away to top-half clubs Real Sociedad (L 1-0), Real Betis (L 2-0) and Atlético Madrid this past Saturday (L 1-0). The rescheduling of this match sees them begin a trilogy of three league games at home, all against opponents ending the weekend in the bottom half of the standings, so they’ll be hoping for a change in fortunes.
Cádiz are going through one of LL’s longest active winless streaks, which was extended to nine games at the weekend (D3, L6) as manager Sergio González failed to personally defeat Real Madrid (L 3-0) for a 13th consecutive time (D2, L11). His job security is under increasing strain as a result of the side plummeting perilously close to the relegation zone.
They’ve played just one match this season against a side joining them in the bottom quarter of the table, a 1-1 draw at home to last-placed AlmerĂa. Cádiz failed to make the most of their opportunities on that occasion, and if they cannot take more than a couple of points home from fellow strugglers Mallorca and Celta Vigo in coming days, it’ll be tough to see how they can survive the season under Sergio’s stewardship.
Players to watch: Abdón Prats stepped in as Muriqi’s replacement at the weekend and is pursuing his fifth competitive goalscoring appearance of this season. Roger Martà has a wealth of experience against Mallorca with 13 appearances, although he has scored just twice in that time.
Hot stat: All but one of the ten H2Hs to take place this century were either drawn or decided by a single-goal margin.
