Mallorca Sevilla prediction 2023-12-09

Mallorca vs Sevilla prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-12-08 20:00.
Mallorca’s poor start to their La Liga (LL) campaign (W1, D8, L6) continued with a tepid 0-0 draw against AlavĂ©s, and as a result they started this round one place above the bottom three. Their current ten-match winless LL streak (D6, L4) is their longest under current manager Javier Aguirre and their worst since going 11 games without a win in the 2012/13 campaign.

They’ll be desperate to avoid emulating that feat, not least because that season saw them relegated. The longer that run goes on, the more pressure Aguirre will feel, although he can point to injuries to key players as being a contributing factor to the Pirates’ problems this season. With the need for a win growing, the arrival of Sevilla is particularly ominous as they’ve only won one of the last 15 home H2Hs (D7, L7)!

But this is far from a vintage Sevilla outfit, who haven’t won any of their last eight LL matches (D6, L2) and needed a late VAR intervention to prevent defeat against Villarreal (D 1-1) last weekend. They’re only one point better off than Mallorca, albeit with a game in hand, as new manager Diego Alonso continues to struggle since his October appointment (W2, D5, L4 in all competitions).

A tumultuous board meeting made recent headlines when ex-president JosĂ© MarĂa Del Nido Benavente reportedly called his son and current vice-president Miguel Ángel Del Nido Carrasco a “low-life”, overshadowing the announcement that renovation work on their home stadium will start in 2026. Sevilla’s players might be glad to get away from the controversy at home, even if their dismal LL away form (D4, L4) sharply contrasts their excellent away H2H record (W7, D7, L1).

Players to watch: After a full 90 minutes and an assist in Copa del Rey action during the week, Mallorca’s Antonio Sánchez will set out to replicate the opening goal he scored against Sevilla in 2021/22. Meanwhile, Federico Gattoni might fancy his chances of further minutes after completing the scoring for Sevilla in midweek cup action.

Hot stat: Neither Mallorca nor Sevilla have scored a LL goal between the 16th and 30th minutes this season.
