Manchester Utd vs Crystal Palace prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-09-29 14:00.
For the second time in five days, Manchester United welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford as the pair face off in Premier League (PL) action. Manager Erik ten Hag was pleased with how his side “dominated” the 3-0 Carabao Cup meeting, and after victory over Burnley last weekend, will now be looking to guide the Red Devils to three consecutive victories for the first time this season.
United will be keen to get back to winning ways on home soil in the PL, after their 31-match unbeaten streak at Old Trafford was unceremoniously ended by Brighton (3-1). They’ll certainly be confident of achieving that against a Palace side that’s beaten them just three times in 28 PL H2Hs (W19, D6), but all three of those victories have come since August 2019, while two were in games the Red Devils hosted!
Crystal Palace will certainly need to improve to add to that win tally after manager Roy Hodgson confessed his side were taught a “footballing lesson” by United midweek. The Eagles managed just four shots and 31% possession as they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup, although that does give Hodgson’s depleted squad the chance to concentrate on their league campaign.
After a positive start, Palace’s campaign has been derailed somewhat by a two-game winless run (D1, L1), yet they start the round just one point and one position worse off than United in the table. They have proved themselves as stubborn travellers so far this term in PL action, scoring exactly once in their three away games (W1, D1, L1), but more firepower may be required to earn a third win in five league visits to Old Trafford.
Players to watch: Midfield stalwart Casemiro was a class above in United’s 3-0 victory in midweek, and stands alone as their top scorer this term with four goals in eight appearances – but he was sent off in last season’s corresponding fixture. Palace’s Jordan Ayew donned the captain’s armband in defeat on Tuesday, and he’ll be looking to score at Old Trafford for the second time after netting in a 2-1 victory there in 2019.
Hot stat: Man Utd have failed to score just once in their last 30 home matches in all competitions.
