Marseille vs Brest prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-04-26 18:45.
[p]Marseille have been involved in a topsy-turvy battle in the race to finish as runners-up in Ligue 1. A run of five defeats from their last eight outings (W3) means they have regularly swapped places with Monaco in recent weeks, but a 5-1 demolition of rock-bottom Montpellier last time out propelled Les Phocéens back into second spot.[/p]
[p]Backing that win up may prove problematic for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, who haven’t registered back-to-back successes since February, which explains why they haven’t already secured a top-three finish. Their quest hasn’t been helped by a leaky defence which has kept fewer clean sheets (five) than any team in the top half of the table, including just one across their last 13 home league games, albeit they have won five of their last six such outings here (L1).[/p]
[p]Marseille’s defensive struggles will be music to the ears of a Brest side who have scored 12 goals across their last six fixtures (W3, D2, L1). The visitors suffered a damaging defeat in their hopes of continental qualification last time out though, as a 3-1 reversal at home to fellow European contenders Lens means they enter this round seven points adrift of the top six.[/p]
[p]With just four games remaining, closing that gap appears a tall order, but they have lost just one of their last seven league outings on the road (W4, D2). Extending that run at the Stade Vélodrome, where Brest have never kept a clean sheet, may be tricky, and given Éric Roy’s men have only beaten Marseille away twice in their history (D2, L13), their slim European hopes could be extinguished completely this weekend.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is Marseille’s lucky charm as they’ve won all five games in which he’s contributed to a goal this season, while Abdallah Sima has netted in three of his last four appearances for Brest, all three of which arrived before half-time.[/p]
[p]Hot streak: There have been 3+ goals in Marseille’s last five games, and each of Brest’s last four outings.[/p]
