Marseille Eintracht Frankfurt prediction 2022-09-13

Marseille vs Eintracht Frankfurt prediction: EUROPE: Champions League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-09-12 19:00.
Marseille find themselves playing catch up in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) after suffering a demoralising 2-0 defeat to Spurs in their opener. Igor Tudor’s men held their own for much of that game but a 47th-minute red card eventually took its toll, as two goals beyond the 75th doomed them to defeat. The Olympians have since shown their character, bouncing back from a deficit to defeat Lille 2-1 over the weekend in a confidence-boosting win which kept them in second place in Ligue 1 on goal difference alone.

This is only Marseille’s second UCL group stage appearance across the last nine seasons and just one victory would match their paltry three-point haul achieved when going out at this stage in 2019/20. The prospects of matching that on matchday two don’t look very bright though when considering that Marseille have failed to win nine of their ten clashes with German opposition (W1, D1, L8).

As the only UCL debutants in this season’s edition, Eintracht Frankfurt didn’t enjoy any beginners luck in their first game as they recorded a comprehensive 3-0 home defeat against Sporting Lisbon. Oliver Glasner’s men followed it up with another home loss ‘to nil’ at the hands of Wolfsburg, a result which marked an entirely average start to their domestic campaign (W2, D2, L2).

Glasner blasted his side following their latest defeat, labelling them as “slow, ponderous and full of mistakes”. Maybe even now the effects of a gruelling season culminating in Europa League glory last term are starting to show, but the Eagles have a great European away record, winning nine of their last 14 games (D2, L3), while they can also look to two wins from their last three trips to face French opponents.

Players to watch: Colombian Luis SuarĂ©z has scored twice on or beyond 75’ in four Ligue 1 appearances since making the switch to Marseille. He will attempt to outdo his international teammate Rafael BorrĂ©, who scored important goals in the quarters, semis and the final of last season’s Europa League for Frankfurt.

Hot stat: Marseille have lost eight of their last ten home games in the UCL proper (W2).
