Marseille vs Lens prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-03-07 20:05.
[p]After returning to winning ways against Nantes (2-0), Marseille are once again among the most in-form teams in Ligue 1. Their six wins in the nine league games they’ve played in 2025 (D1, L2) lifted them to second in the table pre-round, and with leaders PSG a long way out in front, the focus for Roberto De Zerbi’s side remains to secure a spot in the top three to earn automatic qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.[/p]
[p]Les Phocéens’ rise up the Ligue 1 table has been aided by a stark upturn in home form, as they head into Saturday’s clash with Lens unbeaten in seven league outings at the Stade Vélodrome (W5, D2). Courtesy of winning the three most recent matches of that sequence and scoring at least twice in each of those three, Marseille have not enjoyed a better run on home soil since mid-2022.[/p]
[p]Lens were triumphant in three of their last four visits to the Stade VĂ©lodrome (L1), albeit were beaten in the most recent of those away H2Hs. They make this trip on the back of four-straight defeats, marking the first time since May 2015 that Les Sang et Or have suffered four successive Ligue 1 losses, with their European qualification hopes significantly hampered as a result.[/p]
[p]Their dip in form over the last month has included two away defeats, at Nice (2-0) and Nantes (3-1) respectively, but Will Still’s side continues to pose a threat on their travels and hold one of the best away records of the division. Prior to this round, only two sides had picked up more points than their 19 (W5, D4, L3) away from home this term – Marseille themselves (27) and runaway league leaders PSG (30).[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Marseille captain Leonardo Balerdi has already been booked seven times in Ligue 1 this term and was cautioned in the corresponding fixture last season. Lens defender Deiver Machado is a man in form, illustrated by registering three goal involvements in 2025 (G1, A2), more than any of his team-mates.[/p]
[p]Hot stat: Marseille have the opportunity to complete a Ligue 1 double over Lens for the first time since the 2014/15 campaign.[/p]
