Marseille Monaco prediction 2023-01-28

Marseille vs Monaco prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-01-27 20:00.
Having clocked up 17 goals across six successive Ligue 1 victories, finding the back of the net hasn’t been much of an issue for Marseille, who are now sitting just five points behind league leaders PSG and are perhaps eyeing a push for a first top-flight title since 2009/10. That prolificacy hasn't slowed down their pursuit of Lorient forward Terem Moffi however, as Igor Tudor seeks to bolster his ranks ahead of the second half of the season.

Maybe Tudor senses his side have a chance of securing an unlikely title, as Marseille have seven more points after 19 league games this season (42) than they had in their 2009/10 title winning campaign (35). One feat he won’t want to replicate from that season was a 2-1 home loss to visitors here Monaco, but after winning the reverse H2H 3-2 in November, Marseille could now secure a top-flight H2H league double for the first time since 2007/08.

Monaco will fight tooth and nail to extend Marseille’s H2H woes, and fresh from a thumping 7-1 victory over Auxerre, should be full of confidence. A further five points back in the standings than Marseille, this is a big chance for Monaco to claw back one of their fellow top-four challengers, but having failed to win a league game against a side starting this round in the top-eight (D4, L3), that doesn’t seem likely.

Considering the last three H2Hs have all been won by the away side, perhaps that record is about to change, and Monaco’s impressive away league record this term would certainly support that theory, with their 20 points taken on the road in Ligue 1 this term (W6, D2, L1) bettered only by PSG ahead of the round.

Players to watch: Jordan Veretout has found the net in Marseille’s last two victories, with both goals serving as the last of the game. Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder should also arrive on a high after his hat-trick against Auxerre, and only Bafétimbi Gomis (nine) has scored more than his eight goals against Marseille in the 21st century.

Hot streak: A defender has scored in each of Marseille’s last seven Ligue 1 games.
